In the Jeff Klein interview, Dr. Frank and Dr. Fred ask Jeff about the essential skills, principles, and practices of working for good.
Dr. FrankHow did you come to focus your work on social entrepreneurship and conscious capitalism? And what is your business offer?
Dr. FredIn the book, Megatrends 2010: The Rise of Conscious Capitalism, the author Patricia Aburdene shares how “seven new trends will transform how you work, live and invest.” They include, “The Power of Spirituality” and "The Dawn of Conscious Capitalism." What’s driving these trends?
Dr. FrankI know you work with John Mackey, founder of Whole Foods Market. In describing business today, John says we’ve shifted from an industrial metaphor to an ecological-system metaphor. Can you expand on that?
Dr. FredThe title of your book is Working for Good: Making a Difference While Making a Living. What do you mean by “working for good”? You say that, “Working for Good is an antidote to the violence people do to themselves and each other.” Would you share what you mean by this?
Dr. FrankWhat your book offers are five essential skills and practices of Working for Good. Tell us briefly about those skills. What’s your experience of working with midlife business owners and supporting them in integrating these skills?
Dr. FredAt midlife, spirituality becomes more important in the sense of connecting to something beyond our personal identities. In your work with midlifers, what’s your approach in bringing spirituality up in your conversations?
Dr. FrankJeff, you offer a free inspirational e-book entitled, The 26 Principles of Working for Good. Tell us about some of the principles that represent you the best.
Dr. FredWith all the challenges that the world is facing at this time, people tend to feel overwhelmed and powerless. Midlifers typically want to contribute to society in some ways and leave a legacy. As you write in your book, “We ask ourselves, ‘what can I do?’” “Who am I to make a difference in the face of such dramatic change on such an enormous scale? Where do I begin and how to I proceed?” Please share your views on this.
Dr. FrankFred mentioned at the start that you are director of the Baumann foundation. Tell us about the work of the foundation.
Dr. FredJeff, would you share with our listeners how they can find out more about your work?
